Coptic Cairo Redux 1
So I went back to Coptic Cairo and realized that I've only explored half of the area since my first trip(HERE). This time I was lucky enough to go with Susana and Mark. It was really hot though so walking was a bit of a hell. Still, it was all very pretty - the churches, the cemetery, the narrow streets lined with books. Just look at the pictures:
As always, the sky in Cairo is picture-perfect blue.
Hey cat.
It was so hot, we just had to sit down and get some rest.
So the guy who this photo cut Susana out. haha.
I'm not even going to pretend to remember any of the Church statues, paintings etc. But I think this is St. George.
It's been such a long time since I last lighted a candle.
Reminds me of the churches in the Philippines.
Saw these camels!
Then we came by this lovely street.
lined with books! I died and went to nerd heaven.
We stopped by this souvenir shop.
I want this chair.
Susana looked over some bling.
This closet will go well with my new chair.
Outside the sky was cloudless.
It was so hot the pictures were crooked.
Naked long beared man.
Again we stopped to rest.
They faced the wall in protest of my photography.
But they weren't strong enough.
I've developed a thing for doors. And tucking my shirt.
They say this is one of the places where the Holy Family took refuge.
This is where they supposedly stayed while hiding from Herod. Too bad it was off limits.
Resting again.
Another church.
Stopped for some lunch.
Then off to the cemetery we went.
Part 2 coming up.
